But nobody ever answers me - they never tell me how they did it, and I am actually asking for advice. I want to know how they colored in the hair so that it looks realistic. I want to know how they created a digital landscape. I want to know how they made a complicated photo collage.
But they never tell me how...
I want to learn, and to develop my skills, but there is only so much I can figure out on my own...

I’m requesting you to take a moment to consider what all miners, everywhere in the world, do to help maintain the foundation of our civilization. And in particular, the work of the coal miner.
Here is a project I'm involved with and hope that all reading this will consider:
Miner's Day: Appreciate, Honor and Remember . . . A petition to the Legislature of the State of West Virginia
Would you be so kind as to take a few minutes to view our web site and consider signing the petition?

Hopefully this will also lead national and international days of appreciation for these individuals who risk their lives for us all.
If you agree that this is a worthy cause, please let others know about what we are trying to achieve.
Thanks,
Creed

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Reports of _your_ demise have been premature, but accurate.

Think you got the skillz in 3D, abstract, pencil/CGing, or photography? Then you might want to consider joining amp3d.

Just read our journal entry. I'm sorry that I've never told you how I've done things, cause I know you've asked at least once.
I wouldn't mind explaining, the only problem is that it's kinda of difficult because part of is techinqual and part of it is aesthetic insight.
However, I don't mind trying to explain how I create the images I produce.
So the next time you ask I will try to give you some insight, it explanation might be rather wordy. I'll try to make it simple...
My first advice is ...get an image you like and experiment on it with Photoshop!
Please pardon any typos...The new dA site doesent allow me to see everthing I'm typying into the Devious Thoughts frame!

Thank you very much, that's very thoughtful of you. I hope you didn't think I was indicating you specifically when I pointed that out...it wasn't a personal attack on anybody, I am just an eager student, that's all. I would appreciate it a great deal if you could explain the workings of your art -- I will make sure to ask again at some point
